How It Started
Set Free Nashville was founded January, 2010. We are a church plant of the Set Free movement of Southern California. Originally we were located at Cayce Homes in East Nashville, close to downtown.
With partnerships between Set Free of Yucaipa, CA and the Tennessee Baptist Association we were able to find the first church home of Set Free on 6th Street in the former Woodcock Baptist Church.
Soon we began ministering to those who are lost, broken, addicted and distraught on the streets of Nashville. We hope you find us still serving and loving people where Jesus would be also.

How It's Going
After our previous church building and church home of 8 years was sold, we moved our worship meetings on Sundays to Madison, TN. At the beginning of 2019, we welcomed Roosevelt Sargent as our new lead pastor. He has since brought a new energy and vision to ministry and as he says, with God's vision, we are just getting started!
During the pandemic in mid 2020, we made the hard financial decision to end our lease at our brick & mortar space. We soon realized it was God's strategy to keep us thriving and ministering through the difficult time that our world was experiencing. the Lord miraculously provided financial support within days to secure and deliver a 60-foot revival tent that became the exact church service setting that was needed at the time.

Who We Are
In Practice
Set Free Church is a multi-faceted ministry that strives to reach lost souls with the good news of Christ. We are driven by Jesus’ parable stating, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” Matthew 25:40Our mission field is right here in our own back yard where we serve the homeless and marginalized of Nashville and its surrounding areas with the life changing actions of Jesus as we provide housing, meals and the basic, urgent needs of life.
Leadership
Roosevelt Sargent (aka "Pastor Flo") moved to Nashville to start his new role as Senior Pastor of Set Free Nashville in January of 2019 after his beloved wife, Sarah, transitioned to be with the Lord in September of 2017. He has led valiantly through the Nashville Tornado, Covid, and God directing us in 3 different locations for worship service.
In his early life in Southern California, he was half of the original rap duo Christyde. He became a published writer on widely distributed music projects and spent over fifteen years traveling and sharing the Gospel. Through his story of resilience, survival, and overcoming staggering odds, he inspired hope in the lives of troubled youth across America. During this time, he founded CSR Entertainment, the hip-hop label that produced the first Christian rap group to perform on the Nationally syndicated television show "Soul Train", known as the CL Ryderz. In 2006, he founded a youth church in Southern California where he selflessly served his local community. Since then, Roosevelt has added Published Author to the list of his achievements with his autobiography entitled "Victorious Underdog" and his children's book series entitled "What Now? Lil Roe" Pastor Flo is a visionary who has set out to broaden and develop the various ministries of Set Free Church to reach the lost, broken, and seeking with the Gospel Message through creative and culturally relevant means. |
Jason Lane is a true testament of our Lord's grace at work through this little ministry. He overcame a more than 30-year struggle with addiction and adversity when he found Set Free Church and received Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior on May 17th, 2016. He immediately felt the call of God on his life to serve others and set out to do that with his entire heart and soul. Through hard work and commitment to his new kingdom calling, he was later appointed Director of the Set Free Men's Discipleship Ranch in Dickson, TN. His passion for helping others continues to grow and he is now currently serving as the Men's discipleship Home Director in Madison, TN. His story is one of inspiration and hope that has touched the lives of many.

Housing
Set Free Men's Discipleship Home
Set Free Men's House offers safe, affordable housing and assures that basic needs are met for all house residents. We aim to help people that have been distressed through life's crises. This includes, but is not limited to, drug addiction, alcoholism and homelessness. We do this by providing a bible-based recovery community for men that focuses on a culture of recovery for persons seeking fellowship, a clean living environment, and a supportive recovery community
Mission
Who we are aiming to reach
We believe that there is a forgotten mission field right here in America. Reaching those on the streets in our own backyard.
So we know that Set Free Church right here in Madison is the very spot where God's love will meet the most desperate of human needs. We believe that the door to salvation is always open and so are the doors to our church.
Our mission is to be fully devoted to Jesus by opening our arms to those in search of the truth. We show God's love and concern for our fellow man at every opportunity. Through works of charity and opening our doors to listen and love, we feel that we are walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Vision
Vision for Partnering
We believe that God is moving in powerful ways through our church, reaching the lost in Madison, Nashville and beyond. We are seeking those who live on the streets as well as those who are families & supporters of our deeper work to join our congregation. We are asking that you prayerfully invest in the work that God is doing in and through our Church! We want to invite you to invest in Kingdom work, to help us see people come alive through a relationship with Jesus by supporting us in our visions to see people come home to Jesus.
